The collection in libraries reflect the type of courses taught at respective college.currently mwenge campus library has collection of over 4520 volumes and can accommodate as many as 50 users at a time.
 In order to borrow books and other library materials like CD, CD ROM, Photographs, maps, etc one has to be registered as a library member.
Membership registration is free to students, lecturers, researchers who want to use the library.the members are required however to fill in membership application form before they can qualified to become full time members. 

Rules and Regulations

TUMADARCo Libraries intend to give better service to its users. In order to provide atmospheres for conducive use of its services and facilities, users are required to comply with the Library rules and regulations listed below.
Users in these libraries must respect the rights and privileges of all other users. Library users are therefore expected to abide by the following rules and regulations.

Registration and Borrowing

To register with the library, one is required to fill in a registration card at the issue desk. Students who have not cleared all their previous loans of books or fines will not be allowed to borrow any library materials.
To borrow, present the item you want at the circulation desk together with library ticket or an identity card.

Membership:

  1. Students
  2. Lecturers
  3. Other administrative staff and members of the Board
  4. External users Membership fee as advised

Borrowing tickets issued

  1. Students will be issued with 3 tickets
  2. Lecturers – 7 tickets
  3. Other Administrative staff – 3 tickets

Lending rules

  1. Borrowers are to produce library tickets when borrowing library materials and an identity card are to be produced when borrowing material from the special reserve.
  2. Library materials borrowed must be returned on or before the due date.
  3. No book or any other library material may be taken out of the library unless it has been officially issued to the borrower at the issue desk.
  4. Normal loan period for students is 2 weeks, lecturers one month and 2 hours for Special Reserve materials during the normal working hours. Issue may be renewed for a further period if the document is not reserved for other readers
  5. Library materials borrowed for overnight or weekend use must be returned at 9.00 am when the library opens.
  6. All borrowers must at the end of each semester settle any over due loans before they are permitted to borrow library materials again.
  7. Any student holding overdue library materials will not be registered in the library until he/she returns the materials and pays the fine, and will therefore unable to borrow books.
  8. In the case of finalist students, his/her Examination and Statement of results, transcripts and certificate will be withheld by the Chief Academic Officer until unreturned library items have been recovered, or the amount due to the library in fines, the value of materials and penalty have been paid by the borrower.
  9. The Librarian reserves the right to recall any books before the date on which it is due. He may require that all books be returned when stock taking is to take place.

Library regulations

  1. Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the library
  2. No bags, umbrellas, parcels etc, except files and books may be brought into the library.
  3. Idle conversation, loud laughter, and other unnecessary noise disturb Library users and  must therefore be avoided. Discussions are strictly forbidden in the Library.
  4. SILENCE must be observed strictly in the library. MOBILE PHONES pagers and watch alarms should be SWITCHED OFF before entering the library. Failure to observe silence will result into dismissal from the Library and other disciplinary measures.
  5. Library books and other materials are to be handled carefully. Mutilation and damage of library materials by marking, tearing or staining should be avoided.
  6. Abusive language or gestures, harassing or threatening behaviour to the library staff and/or users are not acceptable
  7. On leaving the library, all users are required to produce for inspection all books and other items taken out of the library.
  8. Reservation of seats is not permitted.
  9. Users must be decently dressed and conduct themselves properly in the library.
  10. Library staff on duty have the right to request a user to leave the premise if found violating any of the library rules.
  11. Library membership cards are not transferable.
  12. The Library will not accept responsibility for loss or misplaced personal belongings.
  13. Library books and other materials are to be handled with care. Mutilation and damage of library materials by marking, tearing or staining should be avoided.
  14. Theft and mutilation of Library materials is a criminal offence. Anyone caught attempting to steal, stealing or to have stolen library materials will be reported to relevant security (including the police) and College disciplinary organs for further actions that may include prosecution, barred from using the College Library and/or suspension from studies.
  15. Any loss of borrowing tickets must be reported immediately to the library staff. The lost ticket may be replaced by new ticket at Tsh 200/= non refundable.

Fines and penalties

The following fines and penalties shall be imposed on those who will be breaking these rules and regulations.
Library materials must be returned by the due date or earlier. Failure to do so will be treated as a serious offence. The borrower will be required to pay fine for overdue.

Fine for overdue

Fine imposed on borrowers for late return of library materials is:
  1. A fine of Tsh. 300/= (students) and Tsh. 500/= (others) shall be paid for every additional day after the last day of returning a borrowed material to the Library. Failure to return the book after the additional days will be considered to be book theft.
  2. Failure to pay the fine will result to denial to use the library.
Fine for Special Reserve materials, a fine of Tsh. 300/= shall be paid after every additional hour.
Failure to pay the fine will result to denial to use the library.

Loss and Damage

A borrower will be held responsible for materials out on loan. If the material is lost, an immediate report should be made to the librarian.
A borrower is required to pay twice the price of the damaged or lost material. He/she is required either to replace the lost or damaged material by PURCHASING it himself/herself or requesting the Librarian to replace it

Theft

The penalty for any act of book theft shall be suspension from using library services for the whole semester. Repetition of the same mistake shall be denial to access the Library, accompanied by a warning letter copied to the Dean/Director or Head of the Department and /or Registrar and Principal.
